Some characters, such as the ampersand or multiplication and division symbols, cannot be easily entered using your keyboard. HTML allows you to use codes as a convenience. But, note that we must represent the ampersand (&) symbol in HTML using the & code.
Example :
| Symbol | Code | |
| & | & | ampersand |
| £ | £ | pound sterling character |
| ¢ | ¢ | cent character |
| © | © | copyright character |
| ® | ® | registered character |
| ° | ° | degree character |
| ± | ± | plus or minus character |
| x | × | multiplication character |
| ÷ | division character | |
| “ | " | quotation mark |
| < | < | less-than sign |
| > | > | greater-than sign |
